Brewers' Pitching Should Be Solid

A starting staff of Sheets, Capuano, Suppan (The "Soup Can"), Bush and Vargas should help give the Brew a real fighting chance in the NL central. One can see some real depth when you consider how Villaneuva pitched to close the season and the number of young arms moving up in the farm system.

The bullpen is a good one. Cordero was as solid as any closer last year. Turnbow was lights out in the first half of '06 and was an All-Star. It's too bad he struggled so mightily in the second half of the season. There's no question Derrick has the ability. He lost his confidence and desperately needs to get it back. If he can get that nasty breaking ball over like he did before the break, it will obviously bode well for the Brew. Capellan logged a lot of innings last year and should give Milwaukee a real workhorse it can count on.

Hopefully, Matt Wise comes back strong after his surgery and Shouse proves strong as the Brew's situational lefty.

I like the staff. What say you?
