Things Shaping Up NIcely In Camp

It looks like the Milwaukee Brewers are already having a spirited and competitive spring training. Both Geoff Jenkins and Kevin Mench are already talking about how each wants to be the everyday leftfielder. Neither appears ready to platoon and each is expressing their desire to play elsewhere if Ned Yost doesn't put them in the lineup everyday.

Derrick Turnbow has not resigned himself to being Francisco Cordero's set up man. He wants everyone to know that he intends on getting his "nasty" stuff back that he had before the all-star break and wants to be the Brew's closer.

Even though Billy Hall has been named the everyday centerfielder, both Brady Clark and Tony Gwynn Jr. will be playing their hearts out. They both know that baseball can be a very unpredictable game and either could be called upon to log substantial innings.

Tony Graffanino and Craing Counsell are going head to head for some considerable playing time at third base. With the uncertainty of Corey Koskie's playing status, either or both are most likely going to be inked on the lineup card at the hot corner on a daily basis. Tony and Craig are team players and are willing to come off the bench and play where ever Yost needs them. Don't kid yourself....... both players want to play everyday and will compete hard to do so.

It's great to see such a considerable amount of competitive spirit so early in camp. This will bode well for the younger players and the team as a whole.

I can't wait for opening day!!

What say you?
