Well Brewer fans, just when you think things can't get any worse........they do. The Crew take a 5-0 lead in Sunday's rubber match against the Reds and promptly throw the game away and lose 7-6. The Brewers went to 1-5 on the homestand.
I think it's time for the powers that be in the Brewers organization to step up and do what needs to be done. Fire Ned Yost.
How many games does Yost have to mis-manage before his actions cost him his job? Javier Valentin has now single handidly beaten the Crew three times this season. And oh yea, he's done it batting lefthanded all three times. Valentin stepped to the plate in the 8th inning batting .297 lefthanded, while batting .232 from the right side. You might think that the manager of the Brewers would know this and make him bat from the right side. Not Yost.
For the second time in the game, Yost leaves Scott Linebrink in the game and the Brewers paid the price. Yost had the opportunity to pinch hit for Linebrink in the bottom of the 7th inning with a slim 6-5 lead. One would think that a one run lead against a good offensive team with two more at bats might make the Brewer manager pinch hit in an attempt to score another run. Not Yost.
And, oh by the way, doesn't Derick Turnbow usually pitch the 8th inning when the Brewers are up by a run? Apparently Ned Yost didn't get the memo.
This team has woefully underachieved the last 90 games. The owner and general manager have gone out and made the investment, spent the money and brought in players to make the Brewers a competive team. Ned Yost has not done the job. It's time to cut bait, people.
It's nothing personal. I'm sure Yost works hard and cares about the team. But..........facts are facts. He has made too many mistakes and cost the Brewers at least five or six games.
Do the right thing, management. Fire Yost.
What Say You?
