Brewers Split in St. Louis; Keep 3 1/2 Game Lead Over Cards

The Milwaukee Brewers got what they expected in St. Louis splitting the two-game series. The Crew took one on the chin last night losing to the Cards 5-3. The Brew were up 3-1 in the 8th inning thanks to a solid pitching performance from Manny Parra and some timely hitting.

Unfortunately, the lead was quickly forfeited by Riske and Shouse in bottom of the 8th inning. Riske and Shouse coughed up four runs and gave the red birds a 5-3 advantage. That's where things ended up, folks.

The sting of last night's loss shouldn't last too long since the Crew pounded the Cards 12-0 on Tuesday night.

The Brewers maintain a 3 1/2 game lead in the wild card race. It sure would have been nice to see the Crew sweep the Cards and put themselves in a commanding 5 1/2 lead but, what are ya going to do?

With last night's loss, The Crew is now 6 games behind the Chicago Cubs. Six games is certainly not an insurmountable lead, but the Brew does not have much more room for error if they hope to catch the Cubs.

Let's hope Milwaukee wins two out of three in Pittsburgh. I guess you can't ask for much more than that.

Alright, folks. Watch the Crew get the job done against the Buco's and get out to Miller Park over the Labor Day holiday to watch your Brewers take on the New York Mets.
