One Year Deals For Capuano and Vargas Give Crew Depth

The one year deals given to both Chris Capuano and Claudio Vargas provide the Brewers with much needed pitching depth. Capuano will most likely have the inside track for the 5th starting spot, joining Sheets, Suppan, Gallardo and Villanueva in the rotation.

Vargas could possibly spot start and will probably log most of his innings as a long reliever. Who knows what the season will bring? Dave Bush is presently negotiating with the Crew for a one year deal....This very well might get to an arbitrator. If the Brew sign and keep Bush, that's one more pitcher that can start and eat up innings in the pen as well. Let's not forget that Manny Parra will also be battling for a possible starting spot and/or spot in the bullpen.

All of this pitching depth is a good thing. This not only does this give the Brewers more options in their starting rotation and bullpen, it also puts the Crew in a position to make a trade. I love it, Brewer fans!!

The Milwaukee Brewers Signing of Cameron A Good One

Pending a no surprise physical, The Milwaukee Brewers signing of Centerfielder Mike Cameron immediately makes the Crew a better team.

Cameron is a solid centerfielder that gives the Brewers certainty and depth. After he serves his 25 game suspension, Cameron starts in centerfield, Billy Hall moves to 3rd base and Ryan Braun moves to leftfield. This signing brings closure to a number of questions as to which free agent(s) is/are the Brewers going to sign and where are Hall and Braun going to play.

Now Braun and Hall know where they are going to play and can concentrate on that position. The less uncertainty in baseball, the better.

Bottom line............This signing makes the Brewers a better baseball team. And I love the fact that the Crew is on the hook for less than $5 million. Beautiful!! I love Doug Melvin!!

Milwaukee Brewers Selling 9-Pack Ticket Packages

As a guest writer to this rather solid Milwaukee Brewers blog, I wanted to let readers know that if you want to lock in Milwaukee Brewers Opening Day tickets for the 2008 MLB season, you can buy a 9-pack from the Milwaukee Brewers right now. Ticket prices from the Brewers box office start at $126 and go up from there, but if the upcoming season is anything like the 2007 season, I think that is money well spent. Regardless, it is pretty much a guarantee that Miller Park will be rockin' when opening day comes around April 4, 2008. The real question for this Brewer fan is just how smokin' hot will J.J. Hardy be come Spring?

Brewers Ink Shouse To One Year Deal

There are only a few spots left on the Brewers active roster with the signing of Brian Shouse.
Shouse had a solid '07 season making 73 appearances. He adds finesse and depth to a bullpen filled with power arms.

I like the move. Shouse has proven to be a quality situational left.

Getting Fired Up for '08

I'm starting to get real fired up about the Brew in '08. I know a lot of people have voiced their concerns regarding the Crew's "lack of big moves", but I'm not worried. I like the moves the Brewers made and didn't make. Brewer fans have a good young team with a lot of starting pitching depth.

I can't wait for the the Brewer opener on 4/4 against the Giants. Make sure you get out to Miller Park and cheer on the Crew! I think we should begin to see Milwaukee Brewers tickets around town by March.
