Pending any problems with his physical, it looks like the Crew and Fielder have settled on a two-year deal worth $18 million. I think this is a good deal for both parties and gives the Brewers much needed flexibility.
What puzzles me, though, is why did Fielder turn down the 5-year $60 million extension that the Brewers offered him last year? How much more money is Prince going to make over the next five years? Is is really worth the risk? If Fielder would have taken last year's offer, he would have been 28-years old at the end of the deal and been in line to make $15 - $20 million ++ a year in his prime money making years. Personally, I think this is a mistake that Prince might very well regret. "Thank Scott Boras, Prince, but done blame him. At the end of the day, it was still your decision".
What do you think, Brewer fans?
