Brewers Offer Bradon Looper One Year Deal

The Milwaukee Brewers tickets will sell briskly as management is trying to add some much needed depth to their starting pitching staff in '09 by offering Bradon Looper a one-year deal. If Looper passes his physical, the Brewers have possibly added 150+ innings to their young, thin staff.

Looper is 34 and has only been a starting pitcher for only 1 1/2 seasons. He has spent most of his career in the bullpen as a closer, middle reliever and set up guy. Looper still has a live arm and pitched 199 inning in '08 with the St. Louis Cardinals.

I like the move. The Crew desperately needed to add a reliable arm to their starting rotation. It will be interesting to see which five starters break camp as part of the rotation. Whichever combination comes out of Maryvale, you know that the Brewers are going to need a sixth option. With injuries to the starting staff being such a regular occurence in Major League Baseball, a team needs at least six pitchers that can step in and start.

What do you think, Brewers Fans?

I hope the Brewers decide to spend some more money on pitching.
