The Milwaukee Brewers are playing their worst baseball of the '09 season. So bad in fact that the lowly Washington Nationals (30-68 before coming to town) are bashing their brains in, scoring 22 runs in the first two games of a critical four game series.
It's been extremely difficult to watch. So difficult in fact that I couldn't bring myself to go out to Miller Park last night...even though it was my birthday and it was a beautiful night for baseball.
The Brewers are now 4-8 since the All-Star Break and 7-16 their last 23 games. They are hitting below .190 with runners in scoring position during this stretch and my calculator starts smoking when I try to figure out what their starters ERA is.
I sure hope the Brewers Brass doesn't give up too much for any one player in the hope of turning things around. This team has a lot of holes, folks.
Don't get me wrong. There is still a lot of baseball left, 62 games, but I can't say I feel too good about their chances.
I guess we'll have to see what Doug Melvin and company can put together this week.
Good Luck!!
