Brewers Finalizing Deals, Welcoming New Pitcher

The New Year is upon us and fans are starting to itch for the baseball season to start. The Milwaukee Brewers lineup is expanding every day and fans have some great players to look forward to seeing out at Miller Park this year.

The Brewers have solidified deals with both Rickie Weeks and Carlos Gomez and finalized one year contracts with each to evade salary arbitration. Second baseman Weeks will be running the team $2.75 million for the 2010 season. Prior to his season-ending tendon tear in May of 2009, he hit .272 with nine homeruns and 24 RBIs in just 37 games. Centerfielder Gomez came to Milwaukee from the trade for JJ Hardy with the Minnesota Twins. His deal for 2010 will be for $1.1 million.

Milwaukee also welcomes new teammate and left handed pitcher Doug Davis. The supposed terms of his one year deal are a $4.25 million salary and a 2011 mutual option. The Brewers bullpen has really shaped up during the offseason and Davis will be joining other pitching veteran Randy Wolf.
